I’ve spent my career helping non-profit organizations better achieve their missions through sound management and by shifting their cultures and improving business processes. Simply put, I like to help people run their organizations more effectively, more efficiently, and more humanely.

About Me

A proud generalist, I’ve worked across the non-profit world at mission-driven organizations in higher education, public policy and research, and social services. In my current role at the University of Virginia, I serve as Chief of Staff and Associate Dean for the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, where I lead operations of the Dean’s Office and oversee Staff Affairs. Prior to UVA, I spent more than a decade at the Brookings Institution, where I focused on strategic operations, culture-building, and internal communications as VP of Institutional Affairs & Deputy Executive Vice President. I also served as the inaugural executive director of the Falls Church Homeless Shelter and the president of the Falls Church Presbyterian Church corporation. I hold a Ph.D. in American Literature, and early in my career, taught literature and composition at The George Washington University and Northern Virginia Community College.
